I really enjoyed designing something new for this homeowner who was tired of mowing a sloped and unusable lawn. We started terracing her yard just below her existing planting bed that hugs the house and created a beautiful and usable gathering area with plenty of seating around a new gas fire pit! The dry riverbed that runs from one side of the yard to the other is surrounded by colorful and drought-tolerant ground covers, grasses, and perennials. Landscape lighting in the walls and along the walkways keeps the party going into the evening hours.

 

Now, she has a great view of the green common space beyond without the hassle and cost of conventional landscape maintenance. Win win!
